Acegenix-D

Acegenix-D is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Nilegenix, an Indian generic pharmaceutical company. It contains two active small molecule ingredients: aceclofenac and drotaverine. Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts as a competitive inhibitor of cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation. Drotaverine is an antispasmodic agent that functions as a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4), leading to increased intracellular levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and subsequent relaxation of smooth muscle. This combination is specifically indicated for the management of spasmodic pain associated with conditions such as renal colic (kidney stones), biliary colic (gallbladder pain), and primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps).
