Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acelion-P is a fixed-dose combination product developed and marketed by Merlion Lifescience, containing amlodipine and paracetamol (PCM). Amlodipine is a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that selectively inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle by targeting L-type voltage-gated calcium channels, resulting in peripheral vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Paracetamol is a widely used analgesic and antipyretic that acts primarily through the central nervous system, likely by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes and modulating descending pain pathways. Acelion-P is administered orally in tablet form for the management of hypertension and the relief of pain or fever.
