Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ACEMAX-SP is a fixed-dose combination tablet containing aceclofenac (100 mg), paracetamol (325 mg), and serratiopeptidase (15 mg). Developed and marketed by Max Pharma (also known as Maxx Pharm) in India, this formulation provides a triple-action therapeutic approach to managing pain, fever, and inflammation. Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that preferentially inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby suppressing prostaglandin synthesis to alleviate pain and swelling. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) acts as an analgesic and antipyretic, primarily through the central inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes. Serratiopeptidase is a proteolytic enzyme of bacterial origin that breaks down abnormal proteins, fibrin, and inflammatory mediators (such as bradykinin) at the site of injury, thereby reducing edema and promoting tissue repair. This combination is widely used to treat acute pain, inflammation, and swelling associated with musculoskeletal disorders, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, dental pain, and post-operative recovery.
