Overview

Acer rubrum pollen is an allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the red maple tree (*Acer rubrum*). [16] This biological product is used for both the diagnosis and treatment of allergies to red maple pollen. [2] For diagnosis, it is administered via percutaneous or intradermal skin tests to identify patient sensitivity. [11] For treatment, it is used in allergen-specific immunotherapy (also known as hyposensitization) administered through subcutaneous injections. [11, 12] The therapy involves gradually increasing doses of the extract to modulate the patient's immune response, inducing tolerance and reducing the allergic symptoms associated with pollen exposure. [12] It is classified as a non-standardized allergenic product and is available as a solution for injection, manufactured by several companies specializing in allergy products. [2, 11]
