Overview

Acer saccharinum pollen is an allergen extract derived from the pollen of the silver maple tree (*Acer saccharinum*). It is utilized as a biological product for both the diagnosis of allergic sensitivity via skin testing and the treatment of allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and seasonal asthma through allergen immunotherapy (desensitization). The extract contains the specific proteins (allergens) found in silver maple pollen, which, when administered in gradually increasing doses, help to modulate the patient's immune response. This process involves shifting the immune system from a Th2-mediated allergic reaction toward a more tolerant state, characterized by the induction of regulatory T-cells and a shift in antibody production from IgE to IgG4.
