Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ACETAL-TC is a fixed-dose combination generic pharmaceutical formulation marketed by Zytras Life Sciences, an Indian PCD (Propaganda Cum Distribution) pharma company. The product is composed of **aceclofenac**, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and **thiocolchicoside**, a semi-synthetic muscle relaxant. Aceclofenac works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain, fever, and inflammation. Thiocolchicoside acts as a competitive antagonist at gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) type A and glycine receptors in the central nervous system, providing muscle relaxant effects by reducing muscle stiffness and spasms without significant sedative properties. This combination is primarily indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain, neck pain, and post-operative pain.
