Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Goody's Powder (also known as Goody's Headache Powders) is an over-the-counter combination pain reliever containing acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine. It is formulated as a fast-dissolving single-dose powder, which allows for rapid absorption and faster onset of action compared to traditional tablets or capsules. Goody's Powder is primarily used for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains associated with headaches, migraines, muscle aches, backaches, toothaches, and common colds. The combination works synergistically: aspirin and acetaminophen act as analgesics and antipyretics by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes and reducing prostaglandin synthesis, while caffeine acts as an adenosine receptor antagonist and central nervous system stimulant that enhances the analgesic efficacy of the pain relievers.
