Acetaminophen + aspirin is an over-the-counter combination analgesic used for the temporary relief of minor pain associated with headaches, muscular aches, fever, minor arthritis pain, back pain, and colds. Acetaminophen acts as a pain reliever and fever reducer by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system and acting on the hypothalamus to regulate body temperature. Aspirin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for inflammation, pain, and fever. Aspirin also inhibits thromboxane A2 production in platelets which reduces blood clotting[1][2][5].
