Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acetaminophen + caffeine + chlorpheniramine is an over-the-counter (OTC) fixed-dose combination drug product used for the symptomatic relief of the common cold, flu, and allergic rhinitis. It combines three active ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action: acetaminophen (paracetamol), an analgesic and antipyretic that acts primarily by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system; caffeine, a central nervous system stimulant and adenosine receptor antagonist that enhances the analgesic efficacy of acetaminophen; and chlorpheniramine, a first-generation H1 histamine receptor antagonist (antihistamine) that provides antiallergic and anticholinergic effects to reduce runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes. This combination is marketed under various brand names, such as Rinot by Biotech Laboratorios in Venezuela, and is widely used to treat symptoms like fever, headache, body aches, and nasal congestion.
