Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is an approved small molecule combination drug developed by Northeast Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of influenza and common cold symptoms. The formulation comprises three active ingredients that work through complementary mechanisms: acetaminophen (paracetamol), pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, and chlorphenamine maleate (chlorpheniramine). Acetaminophen serves as an analgesic and antipyretic by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing pain and fever. Pseudoephedrine acts as an α-adrenergic receptor agonist, causing vasoconstriction in the nasal mucosa to relieve congestion. Chlorphenamine is a first-generation H1 receptor antagonist that blocks the effects of histamine to reduce sneezing, rhinorrhea, and other allergic-type symptoms. This combination is designed to provide comprehensive relief from multi-symptom respiratory infections.
