acetic acid + hydrocortisone

Acetic acid + hydrocortisone is a combination otic solution used for the treatment of superficial infections of the external auditory canal. It consists of **acetic acid (2%)**, which provides antibacterial and antifungal activity by lowering the pH of the ear canal environment to inhibit microbial growth, and **hydrocortisone (1%)**, a low-potency corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, edema, and pruritus. This combination is particularly effective for treating acute otitis externa, commonly known as swimmer's ear, in patients aged 3 years and older. The formulation is administered topically into the ear canal and is generally contraindicated in patients with a perforated eardrum.
