acetyl-l-carnitine + n-acetyl-l-cysteine + alpha-lipoic acid-Fertilitetscentrum AB is an antioxidant combination developed for use as a supplement in human embryo culture media, specifically G-TL. This combination is designed to reduce oxidative stress during in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) procedures by mimicking the protective in vivo environment. Acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC) facilitates mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation and provides antioxidant protection; N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) acts as a precursor to the potent intracellular antioxidant glutathione; and alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) serves as a versatile free radical scavenger that can regenerate other antioxidants like Vitamin C and E. The primary clinical objective is to improve embryo development, specifically increasing the proportion of good quality blastocysts on day 5, thereby potentially enhancing pregnancy rates.
