acetyl zingerone + tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate

A combination topical formulation containing **acetyl zingerone** (AZ), a next-generation antioxidant, and **tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate** (THDC/THDA), a stable, lipid-soluble vitamin C prodrug. THDC/THDA enhances epidermal and dermal penetration and delivers vitamin C into the skin, supporting collagen synthesis and skin brightening. On its own, THDC/THDA is unstable under oxidative stress, has poor standalone antioxidant efficacy, and can induce pro-inflammatory gene activation, but co-formulation with AZ preserves THDC from degradation, neutralizes pro-inflammatory effects, and synergistically improves antioxidant activity, collagen production, photoprotection, and reduces wrinkle severity, pigmentation, and erythema. Mechanistically, AZ stabilizes THDC against oxidative degradation, suppresses activation of type I interferon and STAT1 pathways, and upregulates genes related to skin barrier and repair. The combination shows superior clinical efficacy for **photoaging** and pigmentation versus THDC alone.
