Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nephroheal is an oral fixed-dose combination of taurine (500 mg) and acetylcysteine (150 mg) developed by Primus Remedies. It is primarily used as supportive therapy to protect kidney function and manage chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetic nephropathy. Acetylcysteine acts as a precursor to glutathione, a key intracellular antioxidant, thereby helping to neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reduce oxidative stress in renal tissues. Taurine, a sulfur-containing amino acid, serves as an organic osmolyte, regulates fluid and mineral balance, stabilizes cell membranes, and exerts anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Together, these components work synergistically to protect renal cells from oxidative damage and slow the progression of kidney disease.
