Acetyldihydrocodeine is a small molecule and a derivative of codeine, belonging to the class of phenanthrenic opioids. It has been studied for its potential analgesic effects and its ability to modulate morphine glucuronidation. In in vitro studies, acetyldihydrocodeine was found to be ineffective in inhibiting the synthesis of morphine-3-glucuronide (M3G) and morphine-6-glucuronide (M6G). Animal studies indicated that it possesses analgesic activity, albeit less potent than dihydrocodeinone, and exhibits a low affinity for μ opiate receptors.
