Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acetylglutamine (N-acetyl-L-glutamine) is a stable, acetylated derivative of the amino acid L-glutamine. Developed by Zhejiang Cheng Yi Pharmaceutical, it is approved in China as an intravenous injection for parenteral nutrition. Glutamine is a critical energy substrate for rapidly dividing cells, including enterocytes and immune cells, and plays a vital role in nitrogen transport and protein synthesis. Acetylglutamine serves as a more soluble and stable precursor to glutamine, making it suitable for intravenous administration in clinical settings. It is primarily indicated as a nutritional supplement for patients who are critically ill, post-surgical, or otherwise unable to meet their nutritional needs enterally, supporting intestinal barrier integrity and immune function.
