Acetylspiramycin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic and an acetylated derivative of spiramycin. Developed and marketed by Sichuan Proud Era Pharmaceutical in China, it functions by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, effectively inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. The drug is primarily indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by Gram-positive organisms, including *Staphylococcus*, *Streptococcus*, and *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. Clinical applications include the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and bronchitis, as well as oral infections like periodontitis and various skin and soft tissue infections. It is available as an oral tablet formulation.
