AcHERV-HP18L1 is a non-replicating recombinant baculovirus-based DNA vaccine designed for the prevention of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) type 18 infection. The vaccine utilizes the AcHERV platform, which consists of a baculovirus vector pseudotyped with the human endogenous retrovirus (HERV) envelope protein to significantly enhance gene delivery efficiency to mammalian cells. AcHERV-HP18L1 carries the gene encoding the HPV 18L1 capsid protein. Upon intramuscular administration, the vector facilitates the intracellular expression of the L1 protein, which triggers a robust immune response including high titers of antigen-specific serum IgG, vaginal IgA, and potent cell-mediated immunity (notably interferon-gamma production). This dual-arm immune response is intended to provide prophylactic protection against HPV-related conditions, such as cervical cancer, by blocking viral entry and clearing infected cells.
