Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acidif Plus is a phytotherapeutic combination formulation consisting of L-methionine, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract, and Boswellia serrata (leaf) extract. It is primarily used for the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs), particularly in postoperative settings. L-methionine acts as a urinary acidifier, lowering the pH of the urine to create an environment that inhibits the growth and colonization of uropathogenic bacteria. Hibiscus sabdariffa extract provides antimicrobial activity, while Boswellia serrata extract contributes anti-inflammatory effects, helping to alleviate symptoms associated with urinary tract inflammation. The product has been evaluated in clinical trials, such as those conducted by IRCCS San Raffaele, for its efficacy in reducing the incidence of UTIs following pelvic reconstructive surgery and anti-incontinence procedures.
