Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AcinetoVax is a monovalent vaccine candidate developed by Vaxdyn to prevent infections caused by antibiotic-resistant *Acinetobacter baumannii*. The vaccine is designed to elicit a protective immune response by targeting specific outer membrane proteins (OMPs) of the bacterium. *A. baumannii* is a major cause of hospital-acquired infections, particularly in intensive care units, and is frequently resistant to multiple classes of antibiotics, including carbapenems. By targeting conserved surface proteins, AcinetoVax aims to provide broad protection against various clinical isolates of this pathogen. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
