Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acipol (Аципол) is an approved probiotic medicinal product developed and marketed by OTCPharm in Russia. It is a combination therapy consisting of live acidophilic lactobacilli (*Lactobacillus acidophilus*) and inactivated kefir grain biomass containing the water-soluble polysaccharide kefiran. As a probiotic, Acipol functions by restoring the natural balance of the intestinal microflora. The lactobacilli exhibit antagonistic activity against a wide range of pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms, while the kefir grain components act as a metabiotic/prebiotic to stimulate the growth of indigenous beneficial bacteria and enhance the body's immunological resistance. It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of intestinal dysbiosis in adults and children from 3 months of age, particularly those suffering from chronic gastrointestinal diseases (such as colitis and enterocolitis), acute intestinal infections, or dysbiosis resulting from prolonged antibiotic therapy.
