Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The combination of acitretin and oral calcitriol is used for the treatment of plaque-type psoriasis. Acitretin is a second-generation retinoid that modulates keratinocyte proliferation, reducing desquamation, erythema, and lesion thickness in psoriasis. Calcitriol is the active form of vitamin D3 (1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol) and acts by binding to vitamin D receptors in skin cells, regulating cell differentiation and proliferation. The combination aims to enhance efficacy while potentially reducing adverse effects compared to monotherapy[1][3][9].
