Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acne Free is an over-the-counter combination topical acne treatment system available in several formulations. The most common active ingredients are benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Benzoyl peroxide acts as an antimicrobial agent that penetrates pores to kill acne-causing bacteria and reduce inflammation, while salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin and helps unclog pores by removing dead skin cells. Some formulations also include additional soothing or antioxidant ingredients such as oat extract or ginger root extract for sensitive skin. These products are designed to treat existing acne lesions (such as pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads) and help prevent new breakouts[1][2][3][5].
