Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acnewell is a topical anti-acne medication containing 5% dapsone, developed by Apeks Pharma and manufactured by İlko İlaç. Dapsone is a sulfone compound that provides therapeutic benefits in acne vulgaris through both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory pathways. It acts as a competitive inhibitor of dihydropteroate synthase, thereby blocking bacterial folate synthesis, and also suppresses inflammatory responses by inhibiting myeloperoxidase activity and reducing neutrophil-mediated tissue damage. The product is formulated as a gel for topical application to the skin.
