Aconitum baicalense extract is a botanical extract derived from the terrestrial (aerial) parts of the Baikal monkshood plant. It has been investigated for its anti-inflammatory and antitumor properties, particularly in the context of breast cancer. The extract functions by inhibiting cancer stem cells (CSCs), hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), and hematopoietic progenitor cells, which are known to promote a pro-inflammatory environment conducive to tumor growth. Furthermore, it disrupts the recruitment of epithelial progenitor cells and angiogenesis precursors to the mammary gland, thereby preventing neovascularization and the malignant transformation of epithelial cells into tumor cells. Research into this extract is primarily conducted by the Goldberg Research Institute of Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine in Russia.
