Overview

Acorus gramineus extract is a botanical extract derived from the rhizome of the *Acorus gramineus* Solander plant, commonly known as grass-leaved sweet flag. Traditionally used in Asian medicine for central nervous system (CNS) disorders, the extract is being investigated for its anti-neuroinflammatory and neuroprotective effects, particularly in the context of Parkinson's disease. Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of pro-inflammatory mediators, including nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1beta), by modulating the NF-kappaB, MAPK, and TRIF-dependent signaling pathways in activated microglia. Preclinical studies in MPTP-induced mouse models suggest it can prevent neuronal cell death and mitigate neuroinflammation.
