Acorus tatarinowii essential oil is the volatile oil extracted from the dried rhizome of Acorus tatarinowii Schott, a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. The essential oil is considered the active fraction responsible for many of the plant’s pharmacological effects. It contains a complex mixture of compounds, with β-asarone being the most abundant component. Acorus tatarinowii essential oil has demonstrated neuroprotective properties—such as protection against oxidative stress-induced cell injury in neuronal models—potentially via activation of CREB/PGC-1α signaling pathways[1].
