ACP-105 is a novel, nonsteroidal, orally bioavailable selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) developed as a tissue-specific agonist of the androgen receptor[1][4][5]. It is designed to mimic the anabolic effects of androgens (such as increased muscle mass, bone density, and strength) while aiming to minimize the androgenic side effects commonly associated with traditional testosterone therapy, such as prostate enlargement, gynecomastia, and hair loss[1][3][5]. Preclinical studies have demonstrated potent anabolic effects on muscle and bone with minimal impact on the prostate, indicating tissue selectivity[3][4][5]. ACP-105 has also shown potential neuroprotective effects in animal models of ischemic stroke and has been investigated for effects on cognitive function, including protection against radiation-induced cognitive decline and enhancement of memory in certain contexts[1][6][11]. However, ACP-105 is not approved for medical use in humans and its safety profile remains insufficiently characterized[1][2]. It is classified as a performance-enhancing substance and is banned in sports[1][2].
