Overview

AcPepA is a synthetic pentapeptide (N-acetyl-Ala-Ser-Leu-Pro-Arg) that functions as a potent antagonist of the C5a receptor (C5aR1/CD88). Developed by Dr. Hidechika Okada at Fukushimura Hospital and Nagoya City University, it is designed to suppress the inflammatory activities of C5a anaphylatoxin, a critical component of the complement system. C5a is a powerful chemoattractant and activator of leukocytes, contributing to the pathogenesis of various inflammatory and autoimmune disorders. AcPepA has been investigated in early-phase clinical trials to evaluate its safety and tolerability following intravenous administration, particularly in older adult populations.
