ACT100 (Xiamen Tebao Biological Engineering Co., Ltd.)

ACT100 is a recombinant human interferon gamma-1b (rhIFN-γ1b) being developed by Xiamen Tebao Biological Engineering (also known as Amoytop Biotech). It is an immunomodulatory cytokine currently in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) and other primary immune deficiency diseases. CGD is a rare genetic disorder characterized by a defect in the NADPH oxidase complex, which impairs the ability of phagocytes to generate reactive oxygen species necessary for killing certain bacteria and fungi. ACT100 acts as an agonist of the interferon gamma receptor complex, triggering signaling pathways that enhance macrophage activation, increase the expression of MHC molecules, and boost the production of superoxide and other microbicidal agents. This therapy is intended to reduce the frequency and severity of serious infections in patients with these primary immunodeficiencies.
