Actair

Actair is a sublingual allergen immunotherapy (SLIT) tablet developed by Stallergenes Greer for the treatment of house dust mite (HDM)-induced allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis. It contains a standardized 50/50 mixture of allergen extracts from the house dust mite species *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Dermatophagoides farinae*. The drug works by modulating the patient's immune response to these allergens, specifically by increasing the production of allergen-specific IgG antibodies—which compete with IgE for allergen binding—and by modifying T-cell responses to achieve clinical desensitization. Actair is typically administered once daily following a three-day dose-escalation phase and has demonstrated efficacy in both adults and adolescents.
