Overview
Actazin is a natural kiwifruit-derived nutritional ingredient developed by Anagenix Ltd., primarily used for the management of functional constipation and the improvement of gastrointestinal health. Extracted from New Zealand green kiwifruit (*Actinidia deliciosa*), it contains a combination of the proteolytic enzyme actinidin, soluble and insoluble fibers, polyphenols, and prebiotics. Actazin works by enhancing protein digestion in the stomach and small intestine, promoting regular bowel movements, and modulating the gut microbiota, specifically increasing the abundance of beneficial bacteria like *Faecalibacterium prausnitzii*. It is studied as a non-pharmacological alternative to osmotic laxatives like polyethylene glycol 3350 in both adult and pediatric populations.
