Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**ActHIB + DPT-IPV** is a combination vaccine administered primarily to infants and young children for simultaneous protection against five major diseases: **diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) infection**. The vaccine consists of two components: a lyophilized Hib conjugate vaccine (ActHIB, containing Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus toxoid) and a liquid quadrivalent DPT-IPV component (diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, acellular pertussis antigens, and inactivated poliovirus), which are reconstituted together before intramuscular injection[4][2][3][1]. The combined vaccine induces protective immunity by stimulating antibody responses: - **Anti-PRP antibodies** against the Hib polysaccharide capsule, preventing Hib invasive disease - **Antibodies** against pertussis toxin, filamentous hemagglutinin, and pertactin to block Bordetella pertussis infection - **Antibodies** against diphtheria and tetanus toxins - **Neutralizing antibodies** against poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3[1][4]. This vaccine is mainly indicated in the routine immunization schedule for infants and young children, with a typical regimen at ages 2, 4, 6, and 15–18 months[2][4].
