Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Actifed Rhume is an oral combination medication developed and marketed by the Tunisian pharmaceutical company Teriak for the symptomatic relief of the common cold and allergic rhinitis. It contains two active ingredients: pseudoephedrine hydrochloride and triprolidine hydrochloride. Pseudoephedrine is an indirect sympathomimetic agent that acts on adrenergic receptors to induce vasoconstriction in the nasal mucosa, thereby reducing nasal congestion. Triprolidine is a first-generation H1 antihistamine that blocks histamine H1 receptors, effectively reducing allergic symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and itchy, watery eyes. The medication is typically administered as scored tablets containing 60 mg of pseudoephedrine and 2.5 mg of triprolidine.
