Actifuse Shape is a synthetic bone graft substitute designed for filling bone voids and gaps in the skeletal system. Developed by Baxter International (following the acquisition of ApaTech), it consists of silicate-substituted calcium phosphate (SiCaP) granules, containing approximately 0.8% silicon by weight, suspended in an Alkylene Oxide Copolymer (AOC) carrier. The material is both osteoconductive, providing a scaffold for new bone growth, and osteostimulatory, as the silicon substitution enhances the biological activity of the hydroxyapatite. It is indicated for use in the extremities, pelvis, and spine (posterolateral fusion). Over time, the graft is resorbed and replaced by the patient's natural bone.
