Activa Bioactive Cement is a dual-cure, bioactive dental cement developed by Pulpdent Corporation for the cementation of indirect restorations, including zirconia, ceramic, resin, and metal. It is characterized by a bioactive ionic resin matrix, a shock-absorbing rubberized resin component, and reactive ionomer glass fillers. Unlike traditional resin cements, Activa is designed to release and recharge calcium, phosphate, and fluoride ions, facilitating the formation of mineral apatite at the tooth-material interface. This bioactivity helps to seal margins, reduce secondary caries, and promote the natural remineralization of tooth structure. The material is self-etching and self-adhesive, eliminating the need for separate bonding agents in many clinical scenarios, and is particularly indicated for treating badly broken vital teeth and preventing marginal leakage in restorative procedures.
