Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Activate WD Max is a veterinary drinking water acidifier and nutritional supplement developed by Novus International. It is formulated as a liquid blend of organic acids and a methionine precursor, specifically containing 34% formic acid, 20% propionic acid, and 35% desmeninol (2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio)butanoic acid or HMTBa). The product is designed for use in poultry, swine, and aquaculture to lower the pH of drinking water and the gastrointestinal tract, thereby creating an unfavorable environment for the colonization and growth of environmental pathogens such as Salmonella, Escherichia coli, and Campylobacter. Additionally, the desmeninol component provides nutritional benefits as a highly bioavailable source of methionine, supporting animal growth, liver function, and performance, particularly during periods of heat stress.
