A quadrivalent, polysaccharide-protein conjugate vaccine for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. The vaccine uses purified oligosaccharides from these four serogroups, each covalently linked to a nontoxic mutant of diphtheria toxin called CRM197 as a carrier protein. This conjugation induces robust T-cell dependent immune responses, leading to long-lasting serogroup-specific, high-affinity IgG and mucosal immunity. Menhycia is the first of its kind in China, developed by CanSino Biologics, with evidence for safety and immunogenicity, intended for use in children as young as 3 months and up. The vaccine does not contain preservatives or animal-derived components and is administered by intramuscular injection[1][3][6].
