Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AD-303A is a topical nanoparticle formulation of dutasteride being developed by Moogene Medi for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. The drug utilizes Moogene Medi's proprietary lipid nanoparticle (LNP) or nanoparticle-based drug delivery system (Moo-DDS) to facilitate the delivery of dutasteride directly to the hair follicles in the scalp. This localized delivery approach is designed to enhance therapeutic efficacy while minimizing systemic absorption, thereby reducing the risk of systemic side effects typically associated with oral 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, such as sexual dysfunction. Dutasteride, the active pharmaceutical ingredient, is a potent inhibitor of both Type I and Type II isoforms of the 5-alpha reductase enzyme, which prevents the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the primary hormone responsible for hair follicle miniaturization in androgenetic alopecia.
