AD-35 is an orally active, multi-mechanism small molecule neuroprotectant developed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is a novel compound structurally derived from donepezil and designed to provide both symptomatic relief and potential disease modification. Its mechanisms include moderate inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), inhibition of amyloid beta-protein aggregation (Aβ), disassembly of Aβ aggregates, and reduction of neuroinflammation by inhibiting astrocyte activation as well as pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 1 alpha/beta (IL-1α/IL-1β). Preclinical studies have shown that AD-35 can improve cognitive impairment in animal models by targeting these multiple pathways[1][4][5][8].
