Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Ad-ACE2** is an experimental adenoviral gene-transfer vector used to induce pulmonary overexpression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 in preclinical models. In a cigarette-smoke-induced rat model of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, intratracheal administration improved lung-function and inflammatory measures, reduced oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory cytokines, and was associated with reduced NF-kappa B and p38 MAPK pathway activation. It is not an approved medicinal product and no clinical development program, sponsor, or marketed manufacturer was identified. ([europepmc.org](https://europepmc.org/article/MED/24417403))
