Overview
Ad-FRNK is a recombinant adenoviral vector that overexpresses FAK-related non-kinase (FRNK), an endogenous, non-catalytic carboxy-terminal splice variant of focal adhesion kinase (FAK). FRNK acts as a dominant-negative inhibitor of FAK by competitively displacing full-length FAK from focal adhesions via its focal adhesion targeting (FAT) domain. This disruption of FAK scaffolding and signaling inhibits downstream pathways involved in cell survival, migration, and proliferation, thereby inducing anoikis and sensitizing cancer cells to chemotherapy. Ad-FRNK is widely utilized as a genetic research tool in preclinical oncology and fibrosis models to investigate FAK-dependent cellular mechanisms.
