Overview

Ad-shHIF-1α is an **adenoviral vector-based gene therapy encoding a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) directed against hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1α)**. This genetic construct is designed to induce knockdown of HIF-1α expression in transduced cells, thereby interfering with hypoxia-driven transcriptional programs. HIF-1α is a key transcription factor that regulates cellular response to hypoxia, controlling genes involved in angiogenesis, metabolism, and survival. By silencing HIF-1α, Ad-shHIF-1α aims to modulate pathological processes such as abnormal angiogenesis or tumor adaptation in hypoxic environments. This tool is used primarily in preclinical research as an investigative therapy to elucidate the biological role of HIF-1α or as a potential treatment for diseases where HIF-1α signaling contributes to pathogenesis, such as in certain cancers or other disorders involving tissue hypoxia[3].
