Overview

Ad-shNAMPT is an adenovirus-mediated short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to knock down the expression of nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT), also known as visfatin. Developed as a research tool, Ad-shNAMPT has been investigated in preclinical models of atherosclerosis and insulin resistance. By inhibiting hepatic NAMPT expression, the agent promotes reverse cholesterol transport and cholesterol efflux via the PPARα-LXRα-ABCA1/G1 pathway, leading to antiatherogenic effects in vivo.
