Overview
AD11 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by ADvantage Therapeutics for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It specifically targets and neutralizes pro-nerve growth factor (proNGF), a precursor of nerve growth factor (NGF) that is found at elevated levels in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. ProNGF binds to the p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR), triggering signaling pathways that lead to neuronal apoptosis and neurodegeneration. By neutralizing proNGF, AD11 aims to restore the balance between neurotoxic proNGF and neurotrophic mature NGF, thereby preventing neuronal loss and cognitive impairment. The asset is currently in preclinical development.
