Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ad26.RSV.preF + RSV preF protein is a combination vaccine developed for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection, particularly in older adults. The vaccine consists of two components: a recombinant, replication-incompetent adenovirus serotype 26 (Ad26) vector encoding a prefusion conformation-stabilized RSV fusion (preF) protein, and recombinant RSV preF protein. This combination is designed to induce robust humoral and cellular immune responses by presenting the immune system with both vector-expressed and directly administered prefusion F antigen. Clinical studies have demonstrated that this vaccine regimen provides high protective efficacy against lower respiratory tract disease caused by RSV in adults aged 60 years or older[1][2][3][4][5][6]. The addition of the recombinant RSV preF protein enhances immunogenicity compared to either component alone[2]. Janssen, part of Johnson & Johnson, is the primary developer.
