Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ad26.ZIKV.001 is a prophylactic vaccine candidate developed to prevent Zika virus (ZIKV) infection. It is a replication-incompetent human adenovirus serotype 26 (Ad26) vector encoding the Zika virus membrane and envelope (M-Env) proteins. The vaccine works by inducing neutralizing antibodies and robust cellular immune responses against Zika virus, aiming to provide protection from infection and its complications, such as congenital Zika syndrome. In phase 1 clinical trials, Ad26.ZIKV.001 demonstrated a favorable safety profile with mild to moderate reactogenicity and induced persistent neutralizing antibody responses in healthy adults. The developer of this vaccine is Janssen Vaccines & Prevention B.V., part of Johnson & Johnson.
