Overview

Ad5-yCD is a replication-competent oncolytic adenovirus gene therapy vector. It is engineered to express yeast cytosine deaminase (yCD). This enzyme converts the prodrug 5-fluorocytosine (5-FC) into a cytotoxic agent, which then leads to the death of cancer cells. The adenovirus itself also exhibits oncolytic properties, preferentially infecting and lysing tumor cells.
