Overview

ADA-308 is a proprietary small molecule androgen receptor (AR) antagonist developed by Aranda Pharma for the topical treatment of androgen-related disorders, primarily acne and androgenetic alopecia (AGA). It acts by binding to the androgen receptor, thereby preventing androgens from activating AR-mediated signaling. This results in reduced sebum production in acne and decreased hair follicle miniaturization in AGA. Unlike systemic antiandrogens, ADA-308 is designed for local action with minimal systemic effects, making it suitable for both men and women. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in blocking AR activity—including nuclear translocation—and inhibiting cell proliferation in both AR-sensitive adenocarcinoma and enzalutamide-resistant prostate cancer models. While development for prostate cancer has been discontinued, preclinical development continues for dermatological indications[1][2][4][7][8].
