Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Helvetic BioPharma's adalimumab is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody currently in preclinical development, specifically at the pilot scale production stage. It is designed to target and neutralize tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a central role in the pathogenesis of various systemic inflammatory diseases. By binding to TNF-alpha, the antibody prevents its interaction with the p55 and p75 cell surface TNF receptors, thereby downregulating the inflammatory cascade. This biosimilar is being developed for the treatment of autoimmune conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Crohn's disease, and ankylosing spondylitis, mirroring the therapeutic profile of the reference product, Humira.
